My C240, 2005, has 34,000 Miles, I recently did an oil change, now the oil level sensor lights up when I drive for over 20 minutes, but when I do the computer control system check after engine has cooled down it tells me that level is OK...... I am going crazy and worried silly..... the warranty expired, 4 years, on May 2008, I purchased the car May 2004, New, for $32,000 approx. any one has any experience with this?

Good question, this sounds like a problem I've heard of before too. There was someone who had an E class that had this happening and the biggest problem was trying to prove/show it to the dealer. The intermittent bugs are the hardest to solve.

Did you try taking it into the dealer and asking them to just "look" at it?

I have a very similar issue. Most days I take the bus, but I fill the tank up with gas every two weeks. I noticed the gas gauge would flucuate causing extreme uncertainity about the gas level, dropping down to 1/4 of a tank, then when the car is started again, bouncing back up to more than 1/2 a tank. It became so inconsistent that I started to monitor the miles driven versus the gas consumed. One day I was in a hurry multiple errands to run and too little time. I was on the highway accelerating to change lanes and the car was losing power and slowing down. One minute I had a half a tank of gas, the next I was I turning off the highway my heart in my mouth hoping not to get rammed from behind by a car exiting the highway at normal speed. I coasted out of the exit down a local one way residential street, facing the wrong direction where my car cut off out of gas. Oh yeah, if I step on the breaks when the road is damp the pedal vibrates like a grinder that is going to break. For 2.5 years the cars plastic molding on the driver's seat controls have broken off 2 times. The clicker malfunctioned requiring more than a new battery and I put off replacing it. Until the key broke off in the driver's door 2004 ML 350 and the metal plate closed down over the broken key. I am going to check the label and see when and where this vehicle was assembled, it seems to lack the comparative advantage of a german assembled, Mercedes and adopted the first year characteristics of 3rd world assembly. My last car which I still have is a c280 1997, it contains the signature on the windshield and excluding the minor repair it required, never gave me problems with brake lights, gas gauges, cheap interiors, or any type of awareness of outside noise like what I experience with this car.

You assumed your 2004 ML 350 was "german assembled": it was produced in the U.S. (Tuscaloosa, Alabama production plant).

Yes, I have. I had a similar issue with my 2007 S550 4MATIC twice. Every time they opened the engine and exchanged the engine oil sensor.

Although they can see the alarm to check engine oil level went off when reading the vehicle's computer, they denied it once. I simply showed a phone I had taken with my cell phone. I attach one, so you can see what it looks like.

Good luck with your problematic vehicle, while I struggle with my "premium" car.

Have you checked the oil level dipstick? If your oil level is fine then the oil level sensor is failing or it just has a loose electrical connection at the sensor. It's located on or near the bottom of the oil pan, usually mounted on the driver side.
