Mercedes Benz Owners

Exclusive Owners Community

I have a 2006 CLS with 46,000 miles.  I love the car, but have been experiencing significant hesitation when accelerating.  I had the car looked at, and I have to replace the transmission.  Of course, the warranty has recently expired, but it seems ridiculous that any car, not to mention a car this expensive, should need a new transmssion.  This is my first Mercedes, and I thought I was buying a quality product - I guess I was wrong. I submitted a message to customer service, but have not gotten a response.  I this typical of MB?

Yes, it is.

I suggest you read some of the other horror stories by Mercedes owners, who thought they bought a quality premium car.

Sadly the others, I and you discover that a Mercedes is an over-priced car full of engineering flaws (example: the engine mounts of my S550 4MATIC had to be replaced by new ones, which had different part numbers. So: an engineering mistake was secretively solved without recalling the cars). Serviced by mediocre dealers, who are "supported" by Mercedes-Benz USA bureacrats, who act like they work for a state-owned company in the former Soviet Union.

My conclusion out of my terrible experiences with my S550: I will phase out my 3 Mercedes vehicles as soon as I can do so while minimizing my losses and ONLY SPEND MONEY ON GOOD CARS. (Such as BMWs, Lexus, Audi, Lincoln, Cadillac, etc.).
