2007 GL 450 with 41000 miles - driver side seat got on fired and burned ...
the past Tuesday (12/15/2009), my 2007 GL 450 - driver seat starts on fire - 5 minutes after start it up and drove out of parking lot, it made a big hold on the seat and fire burned my jacket ... called MB USA and ask for a new car - didn't get any response yet, now I really lost confidence on driving the GL as I start worrying another seat might get on fire any time ... dam ... now, I am really upset by the quality of GL, I thought it's high end SUV and suppose NOT having any issues like this. I'll wait for couple of days and see what MB USA will tell me - then ...

just get a lawyer to send the letter and threaten a class action legal suit or they just don/t care,,,,the heaters in the seats can short or overheat and the seat stuffing will smolder,,great german engineering there....landrovers and bmmers are no better believe me.

Mine did the exact same thing and they want me to pay for 1/2 of the repairs or 800 dollars. Did you get any satisfaction? If so, what did you need to do?
