Hey Dean Stark, I've own a 1999 C-230 and 1998 C-280 and I do my own repairs. If you have the right tools and equipment it be so easy to get it done in no time and most of all it's going to save you hundreds and thousands of money.
Tools you need:
1. 4x4 wood or anything to secure the tires from moving.
( put it in the front or the back of the tire or both to make sure the tires are not going to roll do not put it
on the tire you are working on.)
2. A Jack to lift the car from the floor.
3. A Jack Stand to support the car from falling down.
4. A 17 inch. wrench to remove the wheel bolts or the one that comes with your car located in the trunk.
5. 18 inch. socket.
6. 17 inch socket.
7. 15 inch socket wrench.
8. 12 inch open wrench.
9. 13 inch open wrench.
10. Flat screw driver.
11. A set of Torx wrench
12. A Brake caliper retractor.
13. An Eye protector or Clear Eye glass.
14. A hummer
I do not recommend you do this if you are doing it the first time. I strongly suggests you get some help from a friend or a mechanic or if you are in Los Angeles, California I would be happy to show you how.
