Mercedes Benz Owners

I own a c320 2001 Mercedes, it has been the most disappointing auto experience , the door handles have fallen off, the seat belts have not worked since I purchased the car causing the door to be slammed on the sensors which now cause the panic door to display that the door is open, I had to disconnect the seats because of this problem, it was causing the battery to wear down so that every time I was ready to go some place I would have to call for a charge, I have owned 5 Mercedes in the pass, what happened to the quality? At this time I am really frustrated with my car.

I, too, have a 2001 C320, and it is without a doubt the worst car I have ever owned. I also had the problem with the seat motors draining the battery and leaving me stranded waiting for a jump start. I am now having problems with the ABS/BAS/EBS/ESP system, where a bunch of Display Fault messages started coming on just after having the rotors replaced. My car only has 71k miles on it, and I've had nothing but problems for the last 30k miles!

This is my second, and last, MB!

I have a 2001 C320 also. It has about 70,000 miles also, and for about the last 30K miles, numerous problems have arisen. Aside from the many electrical problems, the most recent one has me baffled. The car will shut down, and can not be re-started until it completely cools down. I would like to diagnose the problem myself, as I know if I go to the dealer, I will spend a fortune for them to diagnose in intermittent problems, by just replacing parts, and who knows if they will get the problem. I have had many Benzes, and unfortunately, the later model ones have been the worst. Any help regarding the matter will help.
Thanks
Ken

About 3 months ago I picked up my first MB: a 2001 C320, one owner, 51,000 miles, garage-kept, and appeared well cared for. I am GREATLY dissapointed in the paint. The paint easily chips, exposes the metal below and begins to "spider" out with blistering rust underneath the surrounding paint. If left unchecked, the car will be a mess in less than a year. I miss my Cadillac.

It appears we all share the numerous problems with the C320. Mine is a 2002 and also has 70k miles and most of the mileage occurred driving it to and from the repair shop! I have never been so disappointed in my life! One would expect a higher quality from MB. I ponder whether the engineers were drunk when designing this boondoggle or some custodians were promoted to engineers? My biggest mistake was not researching before acquiring this Yugo with a broken peace sign as most Car Rating publications said "Don't BUY". As of this year MB rates lower than Kia for customer satisfaction and lower than it's German competitors! Even the service Mgr. at RBM Atlanta said, "get rid of it". My heart goes out to the staff at RBM Atlanta for trying to explain to once loyal MB owners why MB peddled this junk out the door. There prestige is lost 4-ever and well deserved!

We have a C240 with the same issue. The shop determined that it was a "crankshaft position sensor". Part cost $142.00 with labor at $210.00. Since the repair (9/2/2008) we have not had a problem.
