Instrument panel lights

I have a C280 MB. The instrument panel is not visablly lighted with sun/ambient, light when the light switch is set to auto/low beam. When I pull into the garage where there isn't any ambient light the instrument panel lights up. I believe the ambient sensor is either malfunctioning or there is some adjustment that I am not aware of. Can you advise me. Thanks.
