I have a 2003 C-230 with 38,000 mile. Since it's purchase the car has been repaired three times for the same problem (O2 sensor). Now that the warranty has expired, the problem resurfaced once again at a cost of $2400. Has anyone had the same problem or is it just my car? The last time it was repaired was about four years ago.

Hello M.Lovett,
Perhaps you could use hi-test fuel occasionally. It appears that your fuel/air ratio is not right. Check your basic Air intake filter and replace your plugs. That is basically why your 02 sensor is fauling up.
You have a car which is now six years old and and with very low mileage indicates your fuel octane is below limits
Hope this info. is useful?

Thanks for your reply. I currently use premium fuel, the O2 sensor is only part of the problem. The car has a slight oil leak from the engine, which causes the oil to leak into the wiring harness which is connected to the O2 sensor. This causes the check engine light to come on.

Yes, I had the same problem. Those parts SHOULD be guaranteed as per Benz policy for one year, regardless of whether they are replaced under warranty or not. Call MB or call another dealership to confirm. They never revealed that information to me and were prepared to ding me full fare until I figured it out.

WoW! I thought I was the only one, I have a C230 '03 Kompressor and ever since I brought it in for its alpha service - at a "qualified" Benz servicing facility - its been nothing but a NIGHTMARE on wheels. The last time I brought it to them they tried to foot me with a $1,500.00 bill. The problem is still not fixed and just recently when I brought it in for Service A, they cracked my speaker grill and blamed me for it!

Extremely disatisfied with Benz service!
